In order to browse via Rear Window you can use the controls on the left or move the mosaic with the mouse in the direction you wish. A double click will zoom in on the fragment of the mosaic you’ve chosen. A single click on the fragment will show the text that comments on and annotates it in the window on the right. On the right of Rear Window you will find an optional menu in which you can select the key words for browsing; these become visible by means of the route lines you see in Rear Window (you can activate or deactivate these lines in the same menu).

Finally, in the window on the right, when you consult information about a fragment, you will be able to select in the miniatures in the lower area other fragments relating to the current one.

Welcome

This is the Rear Window to the creative work in the Antoni Tàpies Archive-Thesaurus. Viewable in it are some of the basic iconographic references, the repositories used to date, as well as the texts, interfaces, networks, displayed archives, etc., that serve as the conceptual beginning in the process of creating the Archive-Thesaurus.

All these references configure the mosaic, and their fragments are organized, every so often, in a random manner, thus enabling these fragments to dialog with one another in a dynamic way, just as they are used in the process of creation.

Rear Window is an introductory dossier on the project, which does not end with its first presentation. Each reference or new commentary will be added to the preceding one and will enable the user to see the hidden aspects of the creation of the Archive-Thesaurus. Many of the fragments of the mosaic consist of images of repositories, cabinets of curiosities, storage spaces and/or archives. The project draws much of its inspiration from these organizations of various objects: a place where everything is stored and displayed in such a way that representations of works of art exist side by side with those of gadgets, documents, traces, fetishes, etc.

As graphic expressions of a total project of knowledge, the schemas and drawings of the authors of The Art of Memory are represented in the mosaic, contributing both their concepts and their ability to create graphic interfaces with which to represent them. Along with these are references in the network, working drawings, early graphic representations of the Archive-Thesaurus and a like number of fragments that will gradually be added, commented upon and annotated in this Rear Window to the project.
