Algunos artistas han llevado a sus máximas consecuencias muchas de las caracterÃsticas propias del museo durante siglos. Siglos en que el cientÃfico, el beato, el etnólogo, el antropólogo, el forense, el criminólogo, el curioso, el señor, el amateur, el historiador, el naturalista, el viajero y los propios artistas fueron conformando sus colecciones en forma de gabinetes y museos. La particularidad es que los artistas de los que tratamos han situado y sitúan sus museos y archivos en el centro de su trabajo o han hecho de ellos su obra, a veces dejándolos absolutamente despojados.
AsÃ, museos y archivos donde lo criminal, la raza, la biografÃa, la historia del arte, la naturaleza, la realidad, etc. era y es representada, coexisten en la historia junto a aquellos creados por los artistas donde la experiencia estética muestra sus profundas y radicales transformaciones.
